Cosmetologist - Owner

I feel incredibly fortunate to have a career where I get to help people like you feel beautiful and confident in their every day lives. It is through my experience and training that I have learned to listen to you, my guest, with ALL 5 Senses to produce a style, cut and/or color, that works best for you. To educate you on how to maintain and recreate your style every day so you feel your absolute best as you show up in your world. 

My career started as a little girl. I was THAT girl with ALL of the THICK, CURLY FRIZZY Hair that no one knew what to do with! Think Donna Summers! LOL By age 11 I had learned how to care for my Mane and had started teaching girlfriends of mine how to do the same. This is when I KNEW Beauty School was the way for me! 

Just when I thought my hair was enough to tackle every day, thank you Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine, I married a man who, himself, had just as much wild and unruly hair as myself! LOL Jim, my husband of over 35 years, has been my rock. Together we have built several salons, all the while raising 4 beautiful daughters and enjoying our 7 wonderful grandchildren. We had no idea when we met in Kindergarten what an incredible life we would be fortunate to have this many years later! 

Away from the salon, you might find me dancing away at the Summer Concerts, riding bikes with the grandkids or just relaxing at one of our local rivers or beaches. Being 3rd generation raised in Humboldt, I love to take advantage of ALL the local natural beauty and special events. 

As a beauty professional and salon owner, continued education is one of my highest priorities. I absolutely love how this industry is ever changing! There is always room for growth and improvement. Leveling up and keeping my business ever present on the horizon of a changing world. 

Having trained in Paul Mitchell’s Boot Camp, Advanced Color Placement with Nick Arrojo, Precision Cutting with Nickolas and most recently You School with Eufora, I am committed to staying abreast to the latest techniques and products to offer my guests the highest quality service possible. With a specialty in Curly, Frizzy, Unruly hair, let me help you lean into your natural hair texture to help you enjoy the ease that you can have in your day to day styling.

I love my job! I feel incredibly lucky that I get to spend my days having fun, hanging out with friends and creating beautiful, three dimensional art that infuses confidence and inspiration into my guests and colleagues. When you sit in my chair, my number one goal is for you to feel heard and understood. My second goal is for you to feel confident in the relationship we build to reach your goals for your hair together, whether you are looking for a new style or refreshing your everyday look. 

My career started as a little girl with ALL of my dollies having perfectly styled and braided hair! LOL Those Big Bangs from the 80’s? I totally had them, I was age 8 or 9 wielding a curling iron and professional haircare recommended by my families’ hairstylist. 

Currently I am mother to a beautiful and vibrant young woman, Amelia as well as to two goofy and loving Blue Heeler Mix dogs, Rosabella and Lilliana. Don’t forget the King of the house Harley. He is my bossy and demanding Orange Tabby Cat. I am greeted with a lot of love every day when I arrive home.

As a forever learner you’ll find me traveling to different classes to keep up with the latest styles, tips, tricks and product knowledge as well as education available from afar. This crosses over into my personal life as well. When You’re Ripe You Rot, When You’re Green You Grow. I will forever grow to keep my mind and body alive and healthy. In my free time, you’ll find me dancing at a local gym or studio. Having performed in the local Samba Parade a couple times and being raised in dance, movement is a necessity for all areas of health for me. I’d love for any of you to join me in any of the dance classes I participate in. It’s so fun with friends! I enjoy tending to my flower garden, making a safe space for all the Butterflies, Honey Bees, Hummingbirds and more. I also continue to learn more about low chemical lifestyles. Utilizing essential oils and non chemical substances in many areas of my life to maintain the health of my environment and the earth. 

My service offerings range from short clipper cuts both masculine and feminine to vibrant dimensional color on the longest of hair. My specialties, however, are multidimensional hair color with foils that grows out very natural as well as short feminine haircuts, particularly with fine texture hair. Having fine texture hair myself, I have a rich understanding of how to work with it both in color and cut.

Hello, my name is Leslie Ostrom. I became a Cosmetologist in 2014 after almost 20 years of working in the restaurant industry. I believe I have a servant's heart, because I truly love being of service to others. I also consider myself an artistic person. I have a degree from Humboldt State University in Theatre, Film and Dance, and have been classically trained in oil painting. I appreciate that Cosmetology allows my creative side to work while providing such a personal service to others. The oil painting training has served me well in hairdressing with mixing and matching color, as well as creating balanced (or sometimes asymmetric) and aesthetically pleasing hair designs and colors. I am definitely somewhat of a perfectionist, which isn't the worst quality for a hairdresser to have, in my opinion. With great attention to detail, and a passion for the craft of hairdressing, I am so happy that I chose this profession. I have been told that my shampoo and scalp massage are the best ever. I am thirsty for knowledge, and always educating myself to grow and learn as a hairdresser. Through Eufora International, I have been able to grow my skill set and stay inspired. I travel multiple times a year for classes, whether to Sacramento or San DIego, I continue to educate myself to become the best at what I do!
